    excellent product

Having just lime mortared a wall tjis was the ideal breathable paint. The choice of colours are amazing and Smitten looks fantastic. The volumes of paint available make it fantastic for smaller jobs where as a rivals, only came in 5litre amounts, npt practical for smaller jobs. Paint is a delight to use, easy to apply and looks amazing.

Lovely thick creamy paint that goes a lond way. As lots of people said the colours are different to the colour card so always buy a tester first!

  6. Covers Well - GS, 29th May 2017

    Covers Well

This is a huge 'upgrade' from the limewash we have used for years, much less messy, covers extremely well and goes a long way. As others have commented, don't go by the colours on the card, the colours are VERY different to what is in the tin.

  7. excellent wall paint - Phil Bower, 24th Mar 2017

    excellent wall paint

Posted by Phil Bower on 24th Mar 2017

First time that I've used this paint but it won't be the last. Very thick and creamy so much so that I thinned it with water. Without the water and using a 4"brush it was hard going but made much easier by the addition of about 5% water. The coverage is excellent and one coat has for my use been sufficient. Only one criticism ... the colour on the card is not a close match for what's in the tin (donkey ride). The best plan is to buy the sample pots first

  8. Great paint - AG, 27th Feb 2017

    Great paint

Of the Earthborn paints used so far, this is the best colour I have used in a cob cottage. It has been used in a south facing sitting room and changes mood with the weather, a contemporary colour in sunshine and a hint of mushroom on a grey day. When working on an old wall, apply the first coat as a 1:3 mix, deals with imperfect surfaces. You won't need to worry about this on modern walls. I have always worked with 2 coats, I worry about thick coats and how long it lasts especially on cob. The previous experiences seem to be going well and no signs of damp

    Working with cob

Never experienced this paint before but liked description and choice of colours. The recommendation is to water the paint down 4:1 before applying a top coat. This will work on modern plaster or boarding, but with a soft traditional plaster, I wasn't impressed with the initial layer which was absorbed very quickly A 3:1 mix was better. If you have porous or traditional plaster, I found I needed 2 extra coats, no fumes which is good. I used Straw and I'm going to try Donkey Ride next..ridiculous name on walls that when I bought my cottage were very damp and I've now cured and will see how well it breathes. Applies well on a roller

  10. Like working with thick cream! - MS, 6th Dec 2016

    Like working with thick cream!

Posted by MS on 6th Dec 2016

A real pleasure to work with. Good, thick coverage has meant that I probably don't need a second coat, despite painting over an extremely colourful 'mural'. Finish is excellent too, and the paint seems to be perfect for cobb. And having just cleaned my brushes and rollers with ease, I find myself almost looking forward to the next round of painting. I wonder if the eggshell is as good for my woodwork...
