How is non hydraulic lime mortar made?
Our non-hydraulic Coarse Stuff lime mortar is made at our warehouses using a traditional hot lime process. It is allowed to cool and supplied as a ready mix, meaning it is easy to use straight from the bag. Available in Chalk White and Oatmeal.
*Please note our Oatmeal mix uses a new blend of sands which is different from our Oatmeal mixes produced prior to 2020. There will therefore be a slight colour variation.
- The limestone and flint grit of the Chalk White makes it ideal for flint work or pointing rubble stone as the combination maintains the white mortar colour with flecks of dark particles.
- Available in 8kg tubs and 25kg bags. For bulk discounted orders choose a full pallet of 40 x 25kg bags or a one tonne bulk bag.
- Also ideal for backing coats of internal plasters or exterior render.
What is non hydraulic lime?
Non hydraulic lime is lime in its purest form. It sets in contact with air through a process of carbonation. The slow setting process means non hydraulic lime remains softer and more breathable. It is good for internal plasterwork and for use on soft backgrounds such as cob, soft stone or friable material. There is more information on the differences between hydraulic and non hydraulic limes in our User Guide WHICH LIME?
